"The Devil wears Rococo"

I have designed a fall / winter 2010 women’s wear collection which is based on a Movie “The Devil wears Prada” which is about a devil boss, a tough woman, but her heart is just like a princess waiting for a man to love her. That’s why I have combined the Rococo period clothing style, with contrasting executive wear outline to represent her. Women’s costumes in Rococo period consisted of three parts: robe, petticoat, which is equivalent to the skirt of today, and triangular stomacher. These garments were worn over by a pannier and a corset and this was the fundamental style of women’s clothing throughout the 18th century. Therefore I have used a tough woman image and combined with an elegant rococo concept and idea to design a modern executive wear collection, because most of women would like to look more elegant, but still strong.

All deigns silhouette are tight fit suit jacket, dress and pencil pants with gray color tone. Main details such as high collar, pleated pattern cutting, double layers, balloon shape, smocking, ruffles and embroidery, which are inspired by Rococo’s costume details, are also applied in the whole collection. For the decorations, I have used fox’s head fur, crystal and glass-bead combined with apple-green handmade plastic charms to let the outlook much more gorgeous and fashionable.
